The Happy Seamstress has made her husband what she calls the Nerdiest Sweater Vest in the World, and soon, you’ll be able to make one too! (I so beg to differ with the “nerdiest” thing. “Geekiest” maybe. Not necessarily the “Nerdiest.”*)
Due to an avalanche of requests, she’s getting the pattern together and will release it “within the week”. She has already given the yarn requirements, though, so you can get ready to make one for your own favorite geek…even if your favorite geek is you!
In the meantime, she points out, you can get your Mario Bros. kicks with Emily B. Miller’s free Super Mushroom pattern…which are darn cute even if you’re not a huge Mario Bros. fan. (Just be careful where you keep them around, these could be a bit more Attack of the Mushroom People depending on the kind of “entertainment” you’ve been employing of an evening.)
They take just a bit of yardage, so you can make a lot of them if you are so inclined. (They’re basically cupcake patterns, I think.)
Very cute! And super geeky in an ironic, post-modern kind of way! (Which of course is the most fashionable kind of geeky, if not the most authentic.**)
* And is it “nerdiest” or is it “nerdy-est”? I only wonder about things like this because I myself am not actually a nerd, I am a pedant.
* *Have I mentioned that I am something of a connoisseur of geeks? It’s true. Two partners out of three over a lifetime of geek, er, consumption, as it were. I like me my geeks.
Geeks are quality. True dat.
(I say things like “true dat” to make it clear that I am, if not geeky, then sadly totally nerdy.)

Oh! I meant to say, last year I bought Oscar his very own dvd of Matango: Attack of the Mushroom People.
He was delighted.
We should get that out and watch it this weekend! It might inspire a sweater!
