How many times have you struggled with blocking a hat properly?
I’m a big believer in the right tools for the right job. You wouldn’t believe (or maybe you would) what a difference having a wig block can make when doing anything that involves wigs, millinery, or, as a matter of fact, knitted hats.
Mind you, what you really want is a hat block, which is a chunk of wood carved into the final shape of each and every single hat shape and size you’ll ever want and allows you to steam the hat into submission, but for general use on most knitted hats, if you can find something cheap enough, a wig block is probably the most useful all-purpose thing for a knitter to use to block most hats.
After years in the theatre as a costumer, I’m shocked to have found this professional style wig block at such a low price: under $40!
If you make a lot of hats, this block will allow you to use t-pins to shape the hat exactly as you wish, without fold marks or taping your hat awkwardly to a flimsy, all-too-breakable balloon.

I have longed for a dressmaker’s dummy, but I could start with the head before adding any other body parts :-}
Heh. Well, this one is probably priced just about right, percentage wise…
