Prize Pack! (and no new posts for a week)

Well, at long last, here it is!

I’ve managed to finally finish up all the projects I had hanging fire since Christmas, but of course the important one right now is the prize for our Contest and KAL for Knit A Square.

So here it is:

Included is a ginormous knitting satchel in a sturdy blue and white brocade pattern canvas, with a snaps-open-snaps-shut frame that keeps everything in place, even if the bag tips over or goes headlong. It got made bigger so you can put a large knitting book or magazine into the outside document pocket or inside the bag without worrying about breaking the binding when you open up the frame, or carry the newspaper for those rare moments when you don’t want to be knitting. There’s a small phone-sized zipped outside pocket for your mobile phone and your railcard or other small essentials. 26″ straps to allow for your arm and shoulder plus a good sized winter coat and a shawl plus scarf, but still shouldn’t hit the ground (unless you’re under 5’5″ or so). There’s recycled suede trim. There’s a nice firm bottom of the bag with six silver feet. There’s three inside pockets, one large zipped pocket, and two open topped deep ones. There’s a handy-dandy leather key fob so you can quickly find your keys without losing them in the depths of this very commodious yet sleek bag that tucks under your arm easily. The bag measures 16″ long (to fit those long pins) by 11.5″ tall by a whopping 5″ wide, so you can easily carry that large-ish project with you or even carry…um…six or so of those WIP.

There’s a matching carrying case for interchangeable tips, including a suede needle protector, two zippered pockets for cables and markers and such, and a number of pockets sized for different sized tips, a crochet hook, a small pair of snips and whatever else you deem necessary for KIP.

There’s a full (very gently used) set of KnitPro Harmonie wooden interchangeable tips, including every size of cable, cable connectors, along with cable caps and connector keys, including sizes that aren’t available in the US market, from what they tell me. There’s 13 different sizes of tips, from 3mm to 12mm. They come in their own zippered, clear bag.

There’s an official KP interchangeable tips stand, if you’re the sort of person who likes to knit in one place or only takes a few tips out with you at a time.

There’s also a sampler set of a dozen skeins of yarn in various weights and colorways and fibers from great companies such as Malabrigo, The Mulberry Dyer, Morus, UK Alpaca, and more.

Like the sound of all that? Quick, join our KAL! — our deadline is March 15. Every square you enter in the gallery is another entry for the drawing. Dawne originally challenged us to come up with 30 squares in three months, and we’re delighted to see over seventy squares — but we’re greedy and want to see more, more, MORE!

In other news, I’m off to the US for three months, and I’m not sure what my net access will be like the entire three months. So posts may continue to be a bit, um, erratic. (Possibly in all senses of the word.) But when I can, I’ll be posting! So don’t expect much this week, as I’ll be mainly in the air or jetlagged or otherwise occupied. More when I can.

Well, if one is going off sheer numbers and odds, it’s going to be you or Modelwidow who gets it, but we’ll see how it goes with the drawing, it’s all down to the computers!

  2. Dawne says:

    Zina,

Oh my heavens! I was never a very good sewer so the knitting bag along is quite impressive! Some lucky, random person will be very happy with this prize pack.

Wish you the very best during your travel & change in your routine. I think it will all be worth it, when you are back and settled in again. Keep your eye on the prize!

For no good reason at all, I always forget that you’ve done exactly what I’m doing already, Dawne! :) xox – thanks for the encouragement. I’m so sad to be leaving our cozy little home and my partner here in Cambridgeshire, even though three months really isn’t very long.

Onward and upward, though. I’m hoping the bag and other prizes will prod a few more stitchers into a few more squares!

      :)

Oh wow! what a fantastic and generous prize Zina, and to think it could be won by doing something we love – gracious it doesn’t get much better than this.

  4. Marianne says:
