One of my sisters is always feeling hot. Not too many knitted things for her, I’m afraid, although she did ask for a few coffee cup cozies for her birthday last year.
The other sister is a Latin ballroom competitive dancer — zero body fat, and she’s always cold. ANYthing knitted is great for her. The two of us went into ImagiKnit the other day and came out with a lot of yarn that she wants made into things.
The first one that I’m swatching for now is from the latest Vogue Knitting/Designer Knitting, a beautifully lacy, loose Sharon Sorken jacket. It’s actually a bit too loose — if you look at the 360 of the pattern on the Vogue Knitting website, it’s extremely unfitted. At 43″ bust for the smallest size, my sister will swim in it, plus she’s chosen a gorgeous but not quite as suited for the pattern Artyarns Beaded Silk yarn, rather than the Beaded Mohair and Silk.
So it’s an opportunity — make the jacket at a much smaller gauge to keep the pattern from falling apart, and make it more fitted at the same time.
Still working on the Ishbel for me in 2 ply alpaca. I don’t know what it is about Ishbel…ostensibly a simple little knit, but for some reason something always happens when I’m working on an Ishbel. I love it, though, and I love wearing it, so it’s overall worth it.
Also online is a hanging for the wool shop, just down the street from our little house in Cambridgeshire. I’m just working the charts for it now. Lace, cables, motifs, and colorwork. Ought to be a blast!
