Addi Clicks Lace: wait or buy?

Well, at long last, the Addi Clicks Lace interchangeables are available for order! And a lot of people, including me, have been waiting for them.

Should you buy now on pre-order or wait? If you’re asking that question, you probably already have got the funds ready and waiting. But if it’s a matter of what they’re like, here’s something to consider.

The first generation of Clicks Lace needles will be about 4″ long (because there were so many requests for 16″ sets), rather than the standard 5.25″ long. (At least, this is what I’ve heard in the US market. Not sure about the European and elsewhere markets.)

The standard length will be coming out in the near-ish future. So personally, much as I adore Addi Lace needles, I’m going to be waiting. I did find that, with the shorter HiyaHiya needles, I did adjust my knitting, but I did knit more slowly. So…yeah. Wait.

Drat it.

My vote: don’t. I loved my Addis Turbos interchangeables UNTIL they unclicked while knitting lace. My love for the interchangeable has fallen although I still love my Addis…I won’t be signing up for the Addis interchangeable lace that’s for certain as I am loathe to repeat that experience and have paid this price for it! I say for lace, just get the size you need, when you need it. I was also pretty disappointed that you can’t get a smaller size than 3.5 mm.

Brrr. I haven’t had that happen with my Addi Clicks as of yet, touch wood. I’ve had it happen with the Hiya Hiya needles, and with the KPs, but not the Clicks.

Interchangeables for me have been a must, as I’ve been traveling more often than not, and haven’t had room for an entire collection of single sets. I still have quite a few Addi and Lantern Moon sets, especially in the smaller sizes, even so, but for instance right now I’m in the States, and they’re in the UK, so all I have are three Spectra tips and cables for the plane and a set of Clicks that have to go in the luggage while I travel…
