Okay, I’m not sure that I actually like this particular piece, which is a free pattern, by the way, from Rowan. But I love the idea.

KidSilk Haze. Wire. Crochet. Hmmmm.

I’m thinking “quick Christmas present for myself”, aren’t you? Maybe not exactly like this, maybe something more interesting and less…childlike in form.

Mind you, crocheting with wire is definitely not for the faint of heart. Definitely get a very small gauge wire, something that’s really easy to crochet with, and do not, for the love of God’s little green apples, do not use your nice wood crochet hooks — go get a comfy cheapy metal one for this.

You’ll also want to find a way to control the wire as it feeds towards your hand and crochet hook. If you get the cheap stuff on a spool, figure out some kind of loose grip over the spool that allows the wire to come off, but that doesn’t allow the whole spool to come un-spooled in great salmon leaps.

I’m imagining that dark grey KidSilk Haze with a thread of silver wire running through it.
