A very pretty Caron free pattern!

I mean, is that pretty or what?

This is Lisa Gentrys Shoulder Shawl for Caron’s Simply Soft. I don’t use acrylic yarns, for once not because I’m a fiber snob, but because acrylic feels slimy to my hands and makes me sweat funny.

But I’m definitely going to knit this one at some point, even if it’s not in Simply Soft. Should be a pretty fast knit, I’m thinking.

The shawl measures approximately 56″/142cm wide x 16″/40.5cm long and calls for two skeins of Simply Soft, which is 315 yards per skein. If that’s correct, that’s almost worth the slime factor. (Most people don’t have the same problem that I have with acrylic. On the other hand, lots of people complain about The Dreaded Squeak.)

NOTE: THIS PATTERN IS CURRENTLY UNDER REVIEW BY CARON AS THERE’S SIGNIFICANT ERRORS IN THE PATTERN. I’ll post when I see a new pattern, I’ll be doing some frogging on the plane… *sigh*

Very pretty indeed, thanks for pointing it out!

I don’t find acrylic slimy, exactly, but it does feel icky, and definitely does make me sweat funny.

That is a lovely shawl! I don’t mind acrylic for some things, but a lacy shawl? Never! :-)

I was in Michael’s the other day and decided to get a skein of Simply Soft to try the shawl out. It still feels a wee bit slimy to me, but I figure I can always give it to someone as a present, right…? The lace motif looks like a peacock feather to me, so I bought the SS in a peacock blue. I’ll post pics later…

I’m glad it’s not just me. I found one of those mistakes and have spent most of the weekend trying to figure it out myself and doing a lot of frogging. After knitting for 40 some years, I began to belive I was losing it.

    Errors!!!

the count is wrong by the end of the third row!

What a waste of my time.

Was just fixin to cast this on when I saw your comments about the pattern being wrong. Thank you for posting this. Saved me some time.

I found two errors; first one in “Shape Right Side – Last Row. To fix this I knit to the last 3 stitches, yo, k2, yo, k1. Next error was in “Shape Left Side – where it says Rep Rows 2 and 3 until there a 7 sts. To fix this I repeated until there just 5 sts. Seemed to work for me.
However, I dislike the BO row as it seems to disregard the lace pattern and seems to split the points of the design. Has anyone found a better BO??
